Senior MRTPI Planning Consultant

We are a highly successful multi-discipline Planning & Architectural Consultancy in Buckinghamshire that has been established since 1987, and now have an excellent opportunity for a Senior MRTPI Planning Consultant to join our team. 

Our main focus is on high end residential developments in the Oxfordshire / Buckinghamshire / Berkshire region, and these can vary in size and complexity.  They include the preparation and submission of all types of planning applications, appeals, lawful development certificates, etc, as well as Local Plan promotions. Our Client list includes many well known names such as the Getty family, The Horse Trust (Speen), E J Churchill Shooting Ground and Sport England, to name but a few.   

We benefit from recommendations to prospective Clients by prestigious Agents such as Savills, Knight Frank, Middleton Associates and Prime Purchase as well as by previous Clients, and have never yet had to advertise for instructions.  

The successful candidate will need to:-

  • Take a lead role in our planning team, and provide guidance to Clients throughout all stages of the planning process

  • Prepare, submit and deal with Planning Applications, Applications for Listed Building Consent and Lawful Development Certificates

  • Successfully negotiate with planning authorities through pre-application negotiations and planning applications, including presentations to local and District Councils  

  • Issue written instructions to Planning Counsel and deal with all levels of Planning Appeals, including acting as Expert Planning Witness

  • Have excellent communication skills to support existing Clients, as well as developing leads for new instructions

  • Work closely with our Architectural Design Team 

Candidates should:-

  • Have an RTPI accredited Town Planning qualification

  • Have experience and strong track record working on small, medium and large scale projects 

  • Have an excellent knowledge of the Planning System, Planning Policies, the NPPF and Permitted Development Rights under the GDPO

  • Be highly organised and able to work under pressure 

  • Be committed and have an eye for detail

  • Be used to working with minimal supervision and have a strong ability to use own initiative

  • Be a strong team player

  • Preferably have managerial experience and be commercially aware

  • Hold a full UK driving licence, and have access to a car for business use (business mileage paid)

The salary range for the successful Candidate will be £40,000 - £60,000, dependent upon experience and ability.  There are also excellent Partnership prospects after 12 months, subject to performance review.  This is a golden opportunity for the right Candidate to become an Equity Partner in the future management of this Practice in the near future.
