About

Our Client wished to add extensions, and carry out alterations, that would preserve and enhance the special architectural and historic interest of this Grade II Listed Cottage and its setting in the wider Medmenham (North) Conservation Area.  The brick and flint, end of terrace Cottage is situated in a peaceful position in the heart of the village, and has benefited greatly from its update.

The proposal comprised 6 distinct elements:-

  • A two-storey side extension, with archway under

  • Single-storey rear extensions, including a contemporary glazed element

  • A new pitched roof over the existing two-storey flat roof

  • Alterations to doors and windows

  • A detached double garage

  • New oil storage tank

The Conservation Area designations, along with the advice found within the Conservation Area Character Survey (CACS), lay at the very heart of the design process and informed the final design solutions.
